Modern Personal Development

Do you want to be the type of person who knows things, who does things, who is confident in their environment? To be the person
we know you were always "meant" to be and to get back to becoming that?
You may reach a point in your life when you're sense that you're unhappy with who
you are. Sick of sitting in front of the couch watching television and watching
the world pass you by. On top of that, you may even be more than a little concerned
about the dangers lurking out there. No matter
where you are, chances are your community offers a variety of ways you can express
this becoming and can help you with this while you help others. Some things you
might not even know about. There isn’t space here to tell you about all of them
as they are varied in so many ways, but we can at least get you some ideas as for
where to look to see what's a fit and a match.
First, try your local community YMCA, YWCA, or Rec. center. These community and
non profit organizations often offer a variety of classes aimed at personal growth
and self enrichment. Your options can range from a
dance class to training in the
use of some
personal security product, self defense classes in the use of
mace pepper spray, or even just
nonviolent confrontation can help greatly to improve your personal safety.
Another great source for personal improvement classes is your area Community College.
These organizations are used to non-traditional students and may well offer a course,
seminar, or workshop in a topic that interests you. This is a good place to learn
about computer use or to learn a new craft in a non threatening supportive environment.
There are many an online gift shop to make it simple to look around, find something you like and get started quickly and easily.
Planning your schedule around a class may require a little more effort than some
of the other options, but it can pay off in the long run. The admissions counseling
department of your local college can tell you more.
If you are of a handy or crafty bent, you should also check out stores such as Lowes,
Home Depot, or Hobby Lobby. These national chains often offer single day workshops
in topics such as managed prairie lawn care, wicker chair construction and installation
of everything from flooring to tiling and more.
These workshops are almost always free and, if you’re inspired by what you see, often
offer discounts on purchasing the materials used therein.
The last source we will mention here that you are likely to have around you is the humble book. A bookstore
can give you access to the experience of experts in any of thousands of fields.
While the personal development section tends to be full of books on talking to yourself,
the craft, hobby, trade, computer how-to or foreign language sections offer works
on such a wide variety of topics you’re more likely to have trouble deciding than
trouble finding one that interests you.
Hopefully you’ve found something in the above to continue to express your own path
in the service of your ongoing quest for modern personal development. Try some of these options or others
might suit you even better and you are very likely to find that it will very well be its own reward.
